Family claims negligence leaves girl with permanent damage

Patients in Illinois and across the nation who suffer permanent injuries at a young age may encounter a multitude of hardships throughout life. Such a scenario could increase the need for additional medical treatments that can not only prove costly, but may also cause the patient to experience a lesser quality of life. A family in another state has recently filed a medical malpractice lawsuit after claiming that the presence of negligence during treatment left their 6-year-old daughter with permanent damage.

According to reports, the incident began when medical professionals began administering treatments to address a birthmark on the girl's cheek. The family states that her doctor performed a procedure to remove the mark with the use of a laser. However, they claim the procedure left her with multiple wounds stretching from her nose and mouth to across the side of her face.

In the lawsuit, the family asserts that the doctor did not have the necessary experience to perform the operation. They also claim that the procedure left their daughter with permanent scars and damage. The family also says that due to her condition, she will be unable to pursue additional treatment to address the injuries for several years.

Suffering permanent damage due to the negligence of a medical professional can be a devastating experience. Those who encounter a similar scenario and wish to better understand their available legal avenues could benefit from consulting with an attorney as soon as possible. An attorney in Illinois can evaluate a client's injuries and financial needs and assist in pursuing the full amount of compensation entitled through a medical malpractice claim against the party or parties deemed responsible.
