Failure to diagnose tumor leads to cancer diagnosis

Diagnostic errors continue to be a major concern for many individuals in Illinois and elsewhere. A failure to diagnose a condition can create a variety of potential health hazards for patients and in some cases, such negligence could lead to serious or even life-altering injuries. A family in another state was recently awarded $8.5 million in a medical malpractice claim after doctors failed to identify signs of a possible tumor in a man's bladder.

Failure to diagnose heart condition leads to delay in care

When a trip to a medical facility fails to result in an accurate or complete diagnosis, the condition of a patient in Illinois may be left untreated for extended periods. Even if the condition is properly diagnosed in the future, the results of a delay in treatment could have a significant impact on one's health. An appeals court in another state has recently affirmed the initial ruling of a lower court during the appeal of a medical malpractice claim in which a failure to diagnose a heart condition left a man with serious injuries.
