2 suffer harm due to surgical errors during heart transplants

A heart transplant is a major operation that can have a substantial impact on the health of a patient in Illinois. Failure to take the necessary precautions during such a procedure can be exceedingly hazardous, and those who are subjected to negligence could suffer irreparable harm in the process. Two individuals have filed separate lawsuits against a medical facility in another state after claiming surgical errors left them with serious injuries.

According to reports, one of the incidents began when a man was set to undergo a heart transplant at the facility. During the operation, he claims that a doctor sewed one of his major veins closed, and he says that he was forced to undergo an emergency procedure to repair the error. The man asserts that the incident left him with serious injuries that subsequently forced him to remain hospitalized for three months.

In the other incident, which reportedly involved the same operation, another man claims the same doctor stitched his diaphragm to his colon. According to the lawsuit, this caused him to experience a variety of digestive issues that ultimately left him fighting off dangerous infections. In both cases, each person states the incidents have left them with major health complications.

Surgical errors can have disastrous consequences that may leave a patient with severe or permanent damage. Those who suffer such harm due to the negligence of a medical professional or facility could benefit from retaining the services of an attorney for guidance on their available legal avenues. An attorney can assist a client in Illinois in pursuing the full amount of compensation entitled through a medical malpractice lawsuit.
